Parking facilities and equipment

What are the rules and amenities related to parking?
Generally, it is the duration during which the vehicle will be parked as well as the zone in which the set is which makes it possible to determine the amount of the parking rights which it will be necessary to pay with a time stamp. Then, to be able to park on some parking spaces, it is necessary to use a parking disk. Finally, near schools, railway stations or airports, it is not uncommon to find places reserved for shortstops: minute drop. Since January 1, 2018, the parking tickets that previously sanctioned parking infractions have disappeared in favor of the post-parking package.

The timestamps

Paid parking spaces are systematically associated with pay and display machines. Their operation makes it possible to determine the amount of the parking ticket to be purchased according to the duration during which the place will be occupied. On the latest timestamp models, the driver must also enter the registration number of his vehicle. Then, the agents of surveillance of the public road only have to check the end time indicated on their terminal after flashing a plate of registration. It is also possible to use the purchase of a dematerialized ticket using a Smartphone.

The "minute deposit"

To avoid double-row parking and untimely stops in the middle of the road, some urban areas have spaces reserved for shortstops. In general, minutes are placed close to bus or train stations. Even if drivers cannot park their vehicles, it is possible for them to get their passengers off safely, but also to remove any luggage that is in their trunk without hindering the movement of other users.

The post-parking package

It is in the application of the MAPTAM law of 2014 on the metropolises that the post-parking package was born. Since its entry into force at the beginning of the year 2018, it allows parking infractions to be punished in lieu of the fines relating to the minutes drawn up by police officers in charge of road safety (ASVP).

Parking in Paris

Not all agglomerations follow exactly the same rules. This is particularly the case in the capital, since parking in Paris follows a certain number of specificities related to the different types of parking spaces available, as well as the maximum periods of authorized parking.

More and more municipalities are opting for temporary parking zones near shopping streets in order to offer a solution to users wishing to park their vehicles for a limited time. Generally, these places are indicated by several signaling elements, including a pylon incorporating a counter, which indicates the parking time to be respected. Once this is exceeded, the drivers are exposed to the same penalties as those provided for not having paid the amount of a paid parking ticket.

The parking disk

Although it is doomed to disappear, the parking disk is still used to manage the parking time of vehicles in blue areas. Drivers are notified of their presence by installing signs, which indicate the entry first and secondly the output of "free disk controlled parking areas". Some service stations distribute cardboard parking discs free of charge, which can easily be left in the glove compartment of an automobile.
